Inner demons shown at the example of serial killers and mass-murderers |
|
First of all one question comes up: What could possible drive a person to commit such incredible deeds? After a survey with serial killers by the FBI (at the end of the 70ies), more than half of all serial killers have been sexually abused as children and have thus a damaged relation towards sexuality. Many had sadistic dispositions allready in young age, and followed this inclination using animals and other children. The main drive for their deeds is to run free power. The power they assume over their victims, their fears and helplessness cause most of the times, that they are sexually stimulated or can reach an orgasm. Some can even gain this satisfaction with victims that are allready dead. Of course it would be far too simple to name sexual abuse as the main reason, for once this means a shift of the responsibility to others (it's not my fault, it's my 'abusers' who did it) and second sexual abuse is not the only base for what they do, also aquisitiveness is a not unimportant motive for enough perpetrators. |

There is a great number of serial killers that have a fairly'normal' childhood, and whose crimes don't stand back behind the others named above. According to psychological reports, these people are almost unable to perceive feelings as normal persons do. The are usually more intelligent than the average and often plan their crimes consistently and meticulously. The first murder, the first giving-in to the inner deamon is the beginning of a [kritische Stelle, vielleicht gibts da ne Redewendung!] circle of violence that gets faster and faster. The breaks between the murders mostly get shorter and shorter, and the lust in having the next "kick" is increasing continuously, since the violent fantasies of the culprits are very often behind their actual crimes. Some hear voices, that order them to commit their crimes or at least encourage them, so that's where we find our demons again. Some aboriginal cultures [primitive people klingt so wertend!] drilled holes into the heads of people that were mad and killed others to let the evil spirit out, that tortured the unlucky. Of course the statement, that these people are possessed by demons, and almost innocently driven to commit their crimes, would be only a shifting of responsibility; nevertheless we ask the question for their reasons. Why are their people that are capable of these 'orgies' of violence, without any visible or understandable reason? |
